Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead. For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder . I then ink blended the background using Distress Oxide Inks and blending brushes from Simon Says Stamp . Because I heat embossed the northern lights, the embossing powder will resist the ink that is blended over it. Th

Welcome Baby Cards

I had a baby boy in July and am now trying to get back into crafting. The past year has been chaotic - we bought a house in September, adopted two huskies in November, followed by pregnancy and a newborn which left little time to craft. I only made cards that others requested and didn't make anything that I wanted to create due to lack of time and lack of motivation. I decided to make thank you cards for those that got me gifts or have helped with the baby since he was born. I created these cards using various die sets fr6m The Greetery's New Beginnings Collection . The sentiment for each card is from The Greetery Baby Face Sentiment Stamp Set which coordinates perfectly with each of the die sets I used. This stamp set also contains various facial expressions that can be used for each. For my first card, I used Baby Face Bee Die for the small and large bee. I cut the body from Taylored Expression's Lemon Meringue cardstock and shaded the edges with Simon Says Stamp Pawsi

Copic Marker Bokeh Background Technique

I was inspired to create these cards after watching a video by Kelly Taylor. To create the background, I used various Copic markers and tried to blend the different colors together where each color met. I tried to use colors that were more muted than the colors used for the focal point for each. I'm not very comfortable coloring but it is one of the easier techniques to practice while adjusting to life with a newborn. For the first three cards, I used Picket Fence Studios' Poinsettia Star Stamp Set stamped with Honey Bee Stamp's Intense Black Ink which is a Copic friendly ink on a 4" by 5.25" card base made from Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock . I then colored the background and poinsettia with the colors listed below. For the sentiment, I used Simon Says Stamp Christmas Blessing Stamp Set and coordinating die set which I used for each of the cards in this blog post. I stamped the sentiment using Tsukineko VersaFine Onyx Black Ink . I added an additional t

Cards by Ducky: I started making cards in 2019 as a way to cope with anxiety while in the military. Being in the military means I live far away from my family and sending cards gives me another way to connect with my family and friends. I am still currently serving in the Navy though now I am on shore duty and have significantly more time to craft. I like experimenting with different techniques and I hope to share those techniques with you. I am relatively new to card making so there is still much I need to learn! I like mass producing cards for the repetition and to be able to share my ideas with as many people as possible.
