Iron-Off Embossed Resist on Dark Cardstock with Distress Oxide Sprays

  I'm starting to build up my Christmas card collection for this year and decided I wanted to use an iron-off emboss resist technique to create some quick card sets. To create these cards, I first stamped Colorado Craft Company's Big & Bold Warm Wishes Snowflake Clear Stamp with Veramark Ink onto various dark colored cardstock from Taylored Expressions.  I then used WOW Embossing Powder Clear Gloss which created a darker shiny image of the snowflake as shown above. I then put the card in a cardboard box so that I could use Distress Oxide Spray to add color to the cards. I placed some paper towels in the box to absorb the excess and placed the card down so that the top of the card was closest to me. I lightly misted the card so that there would be a higher concentration of color at the top of the card. I chose two colors of Distress Oxide Spray for each color of cardstock. Sunflower Banner Cards with Distress Oxide Ink Background

This card set was made using Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers: Sunflowers Die Set . I made several flowers using the 6x6 paper packs from Memory Box. These dies are incredibly easy to layer as each layer lines up with the previous one.    With each set of 6x6 sheets, I was able to make 2 sunflowers. The remaining paper was used for a card set previously shown on my blog. The centers of the flowers are made using cardstock from Taylored Expressions - Dijon and Honey.  Because I intended to use water, I placed each background on a sticky sheet cut down to slightly smaller than an A2 card front to reduce warping. Each background was made using various colors of Distress Oxide Ink using a brayer. Once all the color was on the paper, I lightly sprayed each sheet with water. The colors used are listed below. Embossed Vellum Cardfront with Copic Coloring

  To create these cards, I first cut an A2 card front from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 110# Cardstock and a sheet of vellum cut to 4.25" by 6" so that it was slightly taller than my A2 card front. I scored the vellum using a Scor-Pal at 5.5" and enforced the scoreline using a Teflon Bone Folder . I then stamped Simon Says Stamp's Hibiscus Blooms Stamp Set onto my white card front using Gina K Designs Obsidian Amalgam Ink using my MISTI .  Without moving the image in my MISTI, I stamped the sheet of vellum using Versamark Ink so that the stamp would align at the bottom of the vellum and heat embossed the image with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder . I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Altenew's Bouquet of Love Stamp Set to the vellum. To heat emboss on vellum without warping, I used a heavy weight vellum and constantly moved my heat tool while embossing so that it wasn't on one area for more then about a second.
