Glimmer Hot Foil Poinsettia Cards


To create this card, I used Spellbinders Glimmer Poinsettia Hot Foil and Die Set. I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System to add Spellbinders Aura Glimmer Foil to the poinsettia on cardstock from Concord & 9th. I then used my die cutting machine to cut out each layer and glued it together using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue. For the center, I used an embellishment from Trinity Stamp's Gold Eclipse. 


To create the leaves, I used the leaf from Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia Etched Die Set and a leaf from The Greetery's Pine Wisp Die Set. I glued the die cuts onto a sheet of Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock cut to 5.5" by 3.75" and stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's The Magic of Christmas Stamp Set with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. I then glued the card front onto a card base made from the same colored cardstock as the poinsettia. The colors used are listed below. I cut a strip of Tonic Inca Gold Mirror Cardstock to glue to the bottom of the card front. 


Teal: Concord & 9th Peacock
Purple: Concord & 9th Eggplant
Blue: Concord & 9th Blueberry


Red: Concord & 9th Cranberry
Pink: Concord & 9th Honeysuckle

Pine: Concord & 9th Evergreen
Leaf: Concord & 9th Avocado


I created a similar card but without the hot foil using Lawn Fawn's Stitched Poinsettia Die Set and The Greetery's Big Branches Pine Die. For the poinsettia and card base I used Lawn Fawn's Red Barn Cardstock. I embellished the card with Trinity Stamp's Gold Satin Baubles. I stamped the sentiment with a stamp from the same stamp set as the previous card.

Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the  Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several  subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead.  For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from  Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with  WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder . Welcome Baby Cards

I had a baby boy in July and am now trying to get back into crafting. The past year has been chaotic - we bought a house in September, adopted two huskies in November, followed by pregnancy and a newborn which left little time to craft. I only made cards that others requested and didn't make anything that I wanted to create due to lack of time and lack of motivation.  I decided to make thank you cards for those that got me gifts or have helped with the baby since he was born. I created these cards using various die sets fr6m The Greetery's New Beginnings Collection . The sentiment for each card is from  The Greetery Baby Face Sentiment Stamp Set which coordinates perfectly with each of the die sets I used. This stamp set also contains various facial expressions that can be used for each. For my first card, I used Baby Face Bee Die for the small and large bee. I cut the body from Taylored Expression's Lemon Meringue cardstock and shaded the edges with Simon Says Stamp Pawsi

Copic Marker Bokeh Background Technique

I was inspired to create these cards after watching a video by Kelly Taylor. To create the background, I used various Copic markers and tried to blend the different colors together where each color met. I tried to use colors that were more muted than the colors used for the focal point for each. I'm not very comfortable coloring but it is one of the easier techniques to practice while adjusting to life with a newborn. For the first three cards, I used Picket Fence Studios' Poinsettia Star Stamp Set stamped with Honey Bee Stamp's Intense Black Ink which is a Copic friendly ink on a 4" by 5.25" card base made from Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock . I then colored the background and poinsettia with the colors listed below.
