Cards By Ducky

  One of my sisters was born on Halloween and last year she requested a Halloween birthday card. I did not have time to complete it due to moving so of course I had to make one this year. I chose to make a simple card as I am still trying to get back into crafting after having a baby in July. These cards used Simon Says Stamp Witch Please Stamp Set as the focal point.  To start these cards, I placed the medium sized  Tim Holtz Moon Mask Stencil towards the center top of the 3.75" by 5" card front and taped it down by using Spellbinders Best Ever Craft Tape on the underside of the card. I then used  SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink Grapefruit Ink and ink blended a halo around the circle using a Gina K Designs Ink Blending Brush . I then ink blended  SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink Twilight Ink starting from the edges and moving toward the moon, making sure to not overlap with the Grapefruit ink as these are complimentary colors and would create mud if overla...

To create these shaped cards, I used The Greetery's Hourglass Frame Die and Hourglass Frame Insert Die . This die set is a cute way to create scenes inside an hourglass. The Greetery has a collection of stamps and dies that coordinate with this die set but any scene making stamps or dies will work, especially ones that are made for snow globes. I used the die elements from The Greetery for some of these cards, but there are also coordinating stamps of the same elements. These can easily be made into shaker cards and while I did not make shaker cards this time, I plan to at a later date.   I first cut out the large hourglass shape from Hammermill White 100# Cardstock and used the following Distress Oxide Inks to ink blend the background of my cards. I used Ranger's Mini Blending Tool as I have one foam refill for each color of Distress Oxide Ink.
