Perfect Pearl Snowflake Background

 


I actually started these cards last year and I had intended on making a set that had all snowflakes but my dogs got ahold of the rest of my snowflakes so I decided to create more of a variety. These cards use Ranger's Perfect Pearls which is a metallic pigment powder to make sparkly snowflake backgrounds. 

To make the backgrounds, I used snowflakes from Gina K Designs Sparkling Snowflakes and Colorado Craft Company Big & Bold Nordic Snowflake. I used my Embossing Magic Powder Bag so that the Perfect Pearls only stuck where I stamped and then I stamped the background using VersaMark Ink. I then put Perfect Pearls on the card front and used a paint brush to spread the pigment powder around. I took a lint free cloth to wipe off the excess powder. The colors used for each are listed below. 

For the sentiment for each card, I used a stamp from Colorado Craft Company Lovely Legs Bethlehem's Light stamped with VersaMark Ink and embossed using WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder.

For this card, I used Birch Press Design Meridian Ornament Layer Set for the ornament and Birch Press Design Christmas Ornament Pop Up Easel Set for the topper. I used Taylored Expressions Eggplant and Dried Fig cardstock as well as Simon Says Stamp's Orchid and Black Glitter Cardstock. I added some heavy weight vellum to the background to separate the background more from the ornament. 


For this card, I used Spellbinders Winter Welcome Sled Etch Dies to create the sled and skis. I used glitter cardstock from Sizzix Opulent Cardstock Pack Silver and Ivory and Simon Says Stamp Black Glitter Cardstock. For the bow, I used a die from Waffle Flower Twine and Bows Die Set.


For this card I used Lawn Fawn Build-A-Birdhouse and the coordinating Christmas Add On. I used Taylored Expressions Sea Salt Cardstock for the lights and back of the birdhouse, Taylored Expressions Salt Water Taffy for the birdhouse, Simon Says Stamp Sapphire Glitter Cardstock for the roof and base, Simon Says Stamp White Glitter Cardstock for the snow and bird, and Simon Says Stamp Aqua Glitter Cardstock for the Christmas lights. I added an emblishemnt from Little Things from Lucy's Cards Ebony Pearl Mix.


For this card, I used Memory Box Snowman House Frame Die. For the house, I used Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock. For the snowman, I used Simon Says Stamp White Glitter Cardstock, Black Glitter Cardstock, and Pine Glitter Cardstock. For the trees, I used Concord and 9th Pine Cardstock. I added heavy weight vellum to the background to separate the card more from the background. I used a Sakura Black Glaze Pen to make the snowman's button, eyes, and mouth stand out. 


For this card, I used Birch Press Design Crochet Snowflake Layer Dies. For the bottom layer, I used Spellbinders Crimson Cardstock. For the middle layer, I used Neenah Solar White 110# cardstock and sprayed the snowflake with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Spray Aged Mahogany. For the final layer, I used Tonic Sugar Chrystal Glitter Cardstock.

Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the  Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several  subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead.  For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from  Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with  WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder . Welcome Baby Cards

I had a baby boy in July and am now trying to get back into crafting. The past year has been chaotic - we bought a house in September, adopted two huskies in November, followed by pregnancy and a newborn which left little time to craft. I only made cards that others requested and didn't make anything that I wanted to create due to lack of time and lack of motivation.  I decided to make thank you cards for those that got me gifts or have helped with the baby since he was born. I created these cards using various die sets fr6m The Greetery's New Beginnings Collection . The sentiment for each card is from  The Greetery Baby Face Sentiment Stamp Set which coordinates perfectly with each of the die sets I used. This stamp set also contains various facial expressions that can be used for each. For my first card, I used Baby Face Bee Die for the small and large bee. I cut the body from Taylored Expression's Lemon Meringue cardstock and shaded the edges with Simon Says Stamp Pawsi

Copic Marker Bokeh Background Technique

I was inspired to create these cards after watching a video by Kelly Taylor. To create the background, I used various Copic markers and tried to blend the different colors together where each color met. I tried to use colors that were more muted than the colors used for the focal point for each. I'm not very comfortable coloring but it is one of the easier techniques to practice while adjusting to life with a newborn. For the first three cards, I used Picket Fence Studios' Poinsettia Star Stamp Set stamped with Honey Bee Stamp's Intense Black Ink which is a Copic friendly ink on a 4" by 5.25" card base made from Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock . I then colored the background and poinsettia with the colors listed below.
