Cards By Ducky

  I actually started these cards last year and I had intended on making a set that had all snowflakes but my dogs got ahold of the rest of my snowflakes so I decided to create more of a variety. These cards use Ranger's Perfect Pearls which is a metallic pigment powder to make sparkly snowflake backgrounds.  To make the backgrounds, I used snowflakes from  Gina K Designs Sparkling Snowflakes and  Colorado Craft Company Big & Bold Nordic Snowflake . I used my Embossing Magic Powder Bag so that the Perfect Pearls only stuck where I stamped and then I stamped the background using VersaMark Ink . I then put Perfect Pearls on the card front and used a paint brush to spread the pigment powder around. I took a lint free cloth to wipe off the excess powder. This was a quick and simple card to put together for my brother's birthday. To create this card, I used the die cuts from Waffle Flower's Baseball Dad Die Set for the focal images, Lawn Fawn's Grassy Hillside Borders for the grass, and Honey Bee Stamps' Stacking Art Deco Labels for the background. I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 for all of the die cutting. I was inspired to create these cards after watching a video by Kelly Taylor. To create the background, I used various Copic markers and tried to blend the different colors together where each color met. I tried to use colors that were more muted than the colors used for the focal point for each. I'm not very comfortable coloring but it is one of the easier techniques to practice while adjusting to life with a newborn. For the first three cards, I used Picket Fence Studios' Poinsettia Star Stamp Set stamped with Honey Bee Stamp's Intense Black Ink which is a Copic friendly ink on a 4" by 5.25" card base made from Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock . I then colored the background and poinsettia with the colors listed below.   One of my sisters was born on Halloween and last year she requested a Halloween birthday card. I did not have time to complete it due to moving so of course I had to make one this year. I chose to make a simple card as I am still trying to get back into crafting after having a baby in July. These cards used Simon Says Stamp Witch Please Stamp Set as the focal point.  To start these cards, I placed the medium sized  Tim Holtz Moon Mask Stencil towards the center top of the 3.75" by 5" card front and taped it down by using Spellbinders Best Ever Craft Tape on the underside of the card. I then used  SSS Pawsitively Saturated Ink Grapefruit Ink and ink blended a halo around the circle using a Gina K Designs Ink Blending Brush .
