Quick and Simple Baseball Birthday Card


This was a quick and simple card to put together for my brother's birthday. To create this card, I used the die cuts from Waffle Flower's Baseball Dad Die Set for the focal images, Lawn Fawn's Grassy Hillside Borders for the grass, and Honey Bee Stamps' Stacking Art Deco Labels for the background. I used my Spellbinders Platinum 6 for all of the die cutting. I used the following cardstock colors for my die cuts:  

Baseball - Neenah Solar White 110# & Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy
Baseball Bats - Taylored Expressions Toffee & Papertrey Ink True Black 
Hat - My Favorite Things Field Day
Grass - Taylored Expressions Peapod
Background - Taylored Expressions Mocha
Card Base - Lawn Fawn Vanilla Malt


To add more interest to my die cut images, I ink blended with a Simon Says Stamp Small Detail Flat Blending Brush around the edges using Distress Oxide Inks in the following colors: 

Baseball & Bats - Gathered Twigs 
Hat & Grass - Rustic Wilderness

I then glued the images down onto my card base with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue and put something heavy over it to ensure the glue adhered properly. 


I finished the card by adding a sentiment from Waffle Flower's Essential Celebrations Stamp Set. I used my Embossing Magic Powder Bag to ensure that the embossing powder only stuck where I stamped and VersaMark Ink to stamp the sentiment. I then heat embossed the sentiment using Ranger's Super Fine White Embossing Powder and my WOW Dual Speed Heat Tool.

Iron-Off Embossed Resist on Dark Cardstock with Distress Oxide Sprays

  I'm starting to build up my Christmas card collection for this year and decided I wanted to use an iron-off emboss resist technique to create some quick card sets. To create these cards, I first stamped Colorado Craft Company's Big & Bold Warm Wishes Snowflake Clear Stamp with Veramark Ink onto various dark colored cardstock from Taylored Expressions.  I then used WOW Embossing Powder Clear Gloss which created a darker shiny image of the snowflake as shown above. I then put the card in a cardboard box so that I could use Distress Oxide Spray to add color to the cards. I placed some paper towels in the box to absorb the excess and placed the card down so that the top of the card was closest to me. Embossed Vellum Cardfront with Copic Coloring

  To create these cards, I first cut an A2 card front from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 110# Cardstock and a sheet of vellum cut to 4.25" by 6" so that it was slightly taller than my A2 card front. I scored the vellum using a Scor-Pal at 5.5" and enforced the scoreline using a Teflon Bone Folder . I then stamped Simon Says Stamp's Hibiscus Blooms Stamp Set onto my white card front using Gina K Designs Obsidian Amalgam Ink using my MISTI .  Without moving the image in my MISTI, I stamped the sheet of vellum using Versamark Ink so that the stamp would align at the bottom of the vellum and heat embossed the image with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder . I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Altenew's Bouquet of Love Stamp Set to the vellum. Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the  Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several  subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead.  For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from  Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with  WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder .
