Rawr-some Birthday Cards

 


I went out of my comfort zone and decided to practice my Copic Coloring. I created these cards using the All the Dots 6"x6" Petite Paper Pack from Lawn Fawn. I cut down each sheet of paper to a 4" by 4" square and then cut the square in half to create triangles. I then cut multiple sheets of Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock to 4" by 5.25" sheets. Onto each sheet, I stamped a dinosaur from Whimsy Stamp's Roar Stomp Chomp Stamp Set and Roar A Saur Stamp Set with Honey Bee Stamp's Intense Black Ink as this ink is Copic friendly. I stamped a sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Rawrsome Stamp Set. 


I'm not good at shading so I looked at the pictures on Whimsy Stamp's website to figure out the shading for each dinosaur. The colors for each dinosaur are listed below. Once I had each dinosaur colored, I glued the patterned paper onto the white card front and glued the entire card front onto an A2 card base made from Papertrey Ink Cardstock. I used Berry Sorbet, Lemon Tart, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores, Spring Rain, and Winter Wisteria.

Iron-Off Embossed Resist on Dark Cardstock with Distress Oxide Sprays

  I'm starting to build up my Christmas card collection for this year and decided I wanted to use an iron-off emboss resist technique to create some quick card sets. To create these cards, I first stamped Colorado Craft Company's Big & Bold Warm Wishes Snowflake Clear Stamp with Veramark Ink onto various dark colored cardstock from Taylored Expressions.  I then used WOW Embossing Powder Clear Gloss which created a darker shiny image of the snowflake as shown above. I then put the card in a cardboard box so that I could use Distress Oxide Spray to add color to the cards. I placed some paper towels in the box to absorb the excess and placed the card down so that the top of the card was closest to me. Embossed Vellum Cardfront with Copic Coloring

  To create these cards, I first cut an A2 card front from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 110# Cardstock and a sheet of vellum cut to 4.25" by 6" so that it was slightly taller than my A2 card front. I scored the vellum using a Scor-Pal at 5.5" and enforced the scoreline using a Teflon Bone Folder . I then stamped Simon Says Stamp's Hibiscus Blooms Stamp Set onto my white card front using Gina K Designs Obsidian Amalgam Ink using my MISTI .  Without moving the image in my MISTI, I stamped the sheet of vellum using Versamark Ink so that the stamp would align at the bottom of the vellum and heat embossed the image with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder . I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Altenew's Bouquet of Love Stamp Set to the vellum. To heat emboss on vellum without warping, I used a heavy weight vellum and constantly moved my heat tool while embossing so that it wasn't on one area for more then about a second. Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the  Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several  subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead.  For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from  Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with  WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder .
