Lindy's Gang Magical Simmer Powder and 3D Embossing Folders



I recently purchased various sets of Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Shimmer Powders and decided to test them out by making cards. To see the sets I've swatched, check out my page HERE for those swatches as well as other mica powders. For the cards in this post, I used Autumn Leaves and Enchanted Forest.
 

To create these cards, I cut down a sheet of Canson XL Watercolor Paper to sheets slightly larger than an A2 card front. I then embossed the paper using Sizzix Textured Impression Leaf Vines 3D Embossing Folder with my Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine and the Universal Plate System. The Universal Plate System is useful for creating the perfect amount of pressure when using various embossing folders. They have recommended shims on their website.

I then added Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical Powders to the card using a dry paintbrush. These cards use Gnome Berry Bordeau, Sparkling Sunset, Toadstool Taupe, and Red Hot Poker Orange.


For these cards, I used Autumn Maple Crimson, Cattail Copper Brown, and Fairy Garden Green. I placed them on the paper so that more of one color would be concentrated in certain areas. Once the powder was on the paper, I sprayed the paper with a large amount of water using a Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer. I did not need to mess with the background much afterwards, only adding color to the areas there was not any color and breaking up the clumps of mica powder. I let the paper dry and once it was dry, the mica powder didn't seem to rub off as much as other mica powders, so I did not feel the need to use a fixative.


For this card, I used Fairy Garden Green, Red Hot Poker Orange, Sparkling Sunset, and Autumn Maple Crimson. To finish the cards, I trimmed down the background so that it was 5.25" by 4" using my Tim Holtz Trimmer. I die cut leaves using Hero Arts Fancy Autumn Leaves Die from scrap paper and placed them on my card.

For the sentiment, I used Memory Box Thankful Jotted Script Die, which I think is retired, but Simon Says Stamp Thankful Shadow Wafer Die or Memory Box Jotted Script Thanks Die are similar. The sentiment was cut out from glitter cardstock found in my stash and I used Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock for the shadow die. I embellished the cards with orange leaves using Little Things from Lucy's Cards Papaya Sequin Mix and the cards with red leaves using Grapefruit Sequin Mix for extra shine. I then glued the cardfront onto an A2 card base using Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.


I used the same techniques to make these cards using Simon Says Stamp Christmas Floral Embossing Folder. I used Dragonfly Denim, Tibetan Poppy Teal, Ponderosa Pines Olive, and Autumn Maple Crimson. I die cut out tiny ornaments from Spellbinders Holiday Decorations using scrap paper and Sizzix Gold Surfacez Opulent Cardstock for the gold tops. I then looped Altenew's Gold Metallic Thread through the top and secured the ends to the back of the card front using tape. 

The sentiment is from Paper Rose Merry Christmas Chunky Die and uses Memory Box Frosted Glitter Paper. I don't believe this exact set is available but Memory Box Twinkling Jewels and Glitzy Glitter Pad are similar. I embellished the cards using Little Things from Lucy's Cards Honey Sequin Mix and glued the card front onto an A2 card base.

Iron-Off Embossed Resist on Dark Cardstock with Distress Oxide Sprays

  I'm starting to build up my Christmas card collection for this year and decided I wanted to use an iron-off emboss resist technique to create some quick card sets. To create these cards, I first stamped Colorado Craft Company's Big & Bold Warm Wishes Snowflake Clear Stamp with Veramark Ink onto various dark colored cardstock from Taylored Expressions.  I then used WOW Embossing Powder Clear Gloss which created a darker shiny image of the snowflake as shown above. I then put the card in a cardboard box so that I could use Distress Oxide Spray to add color to the cards. I placed some paper towels in the box to absorb the excess and placed the card down so that the top of the card was closest to me. Embossed Vellum Cardfront with Copic Coloring

  To create these cards, I first cut an A2 card front from Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 110# Cardstock and a sheet of vellum cut to 4.25" by 6" so that it was slightly taller than my A2 card front. I scored the vellum using a Scor-Pal at 5.5" and enforced the scoreline using a Teflon Bone Folder . I then stamped Simon Says Stamp's Hibiscus Blooms Stamp Set onto my white card front using Gina K Designs Obsidian Amalgam Ink using my MISTI .  Without moving the image in my MISTI, I stamped the sheet of vellum using Versamark Ink so that the stamp would align at the bottom of the vellum and heat embossed the image with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder . I also stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from Altenew's Bouquet of Love Stamp Set to the vellum. To heat emboss on vellum without warping, I used a heavy weight vellum and constantly moved my heat tool while embossing so that it wasn't on one area for more then about a second. Northern Lights Background Holiday Card Sets

I created these holiday card sets using the  Hero Arts My Monthly Hero Classic August 2023 Card Kit . Hero Arts card kits are released the first Saturday of every month and they have several  subscription options or can be purchased individually. However, once a kit is sold out, they are no longer available. This card kit was nature themed and comes with dies to create trees lines, mountains, and canyons as well as embossing powders and cardstock, but I decided to use some of the dies for holiday cards instead.  For each card, I first stamped the northern lights using a stamp from  Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed the image with  WOW Opaque Bright White Superfine Embossing Powder .
