Military Appreciation Cards

To create these cards, I used a background stamp from Taylored Expressions called Sketched Flag Background. I used Blue Corn and and Mulled Wine inks. This background stamp is easy to ink up in order to create multiple backgrounds. I chose these ink colors as Taylored Expressions has a cardstock line that matches their inks perfectly. Although I didn't use the matching cardstock for these cards, I did on the cards shown below.

To finish the cards, I used a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp's Tiny Words Stamp Set. This stamp set comes with a variety of sentiments that fit any occasion. I did not have any stamps or dies to create the word "Sailor" or for any of the other branches so I created my own using Concord & 9th's Tall Type Alphabet Dies. These dies are tall and narrow so they are good for creating longer words to still fit on an A2 card front. I used Sizzix Gold Surfacez Opulent Cardstock for the letters. In the lower corner, I stamped one of the stamp's from Wimpsy Stamps Military Heroes in Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

For this set of cards, I made the backgrounds the same as above, but for some of the cards, I decided to use Taylored Expressions Blueberry and Cherry Pop Ink for a lighter look. I cut down some of the card fronts so they were slightly smaller than an A2 card base and used Taylored Expressions matching cardstock to create the card base.

I used die cuts from Wimpsy Stamps Military Dies to complete this card. The dog tags use Sizzix Silver Surfacez Opulent Cardstock and the servicemen are made with Papertrey Ink's True Black Cardstock. I attached silver metallic thread from Altenew's Metallic Thread Set to the dog tags. For the sentiment, I used Honey Bee Stamp's My Hero Stamp Set with Hero Arts Gold Embossing Powder and Versamark Ink.

I stamped the inside of each card using Taylored Expression's The Inside Scoop: Freedom Stamp Set. I used Neenah Solar White 110# Cardstock for the card fronts and white card bases.

If you've made it this far on my blog post, thank you! As you may or may not know, I've been in the military for almost 7 years. Stamptember starts tomorrow and I'm very thankful to be on shore duty this year so I can see other creators creations. Last year, I was on an aircraft carrier in the Atlantic Ocean for the majority of September but this year I'm on the west coast with no chance of going underway.
